OUR Beliefs

Solid Rock Ministries firmly stands on these truths. If you have questions concerning our doctrinal stance, feel free to contact us. We would love to discuss them with you.

THE SCRIPTURES

We believe that “all Scripture is given by inspiration of God”, (II Tim. 3:16), by which we understand that the whole Bible is inspired by God Himself, in that holy men of God were “moved by the Holy Spirit” (II Peter 1:20,21) to write the very words of God. That is, the entire 66-book document, from Genesis to Revelation is the Word of God. We believe that this divine inspiration extends equally to all parts of the Scriptures as they appeared in their original manuscripts. No other writings from other religious groups can be considered inspired, and thus are not equal to the Bible. To love God is to love His Word, and to love His Word is to obey His Word.

THE GODHEAD

We believe that the Godhead exists eternally in three persons — The Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit — and these three are one God, co-equal and co-existent — exactly the same in essence, yet completely different in function. We worship one God. This one God is the God of the Bible. He is Father, Son and Holy Spirit, equally powerful, and everywhere all the time. He is Sovereign over Creation.

MAN

We believe that man was originally created in innocence. Adam and Eve were the first human beings God created, and they were without sin in the Garden until man fell from this state of innocence due to willful sin. As a result, the creation is corrupted and is moving away from God. All people are created by God, but not all people are children of God. Becoming one of God’s children takes place at salvation (see below). As a consequence of his sin, man died (spiritually), and physical death would result as a consequence. Mankind was separated from a relationship with God. As a result, all people are born with a sin nature, and are in need of rescuing from this condition. “No one is righteous, no not one; no one is good, no not one” (Rom. 3:10, 12) and “There is not a just man on earth who continually does good and who never sins.” (Eccl. 7:20)

CHRIST

We believe that Jesus came into this world in order to show God the Father to mankind, to fulfill prophecy, and to rescue mankind, because they are lost in sin. He was conceived by the Holy Spirit, born of the virgin, received a human body and a sinless human nature, He was crucified and died for the sins of the whole world, was buried, and He bodily rose from the dead three days later. Soon after He ascended to heaven, where He has been given all authority forever. Jesus is the 2nd person of the triune God. He is God Almighty!

SALVATION

We believe that because of sin, no one can enter into relationship with God apart from faith in Jesus Christ. Salvation has been accomplished solely by the death of our Lord Jesus Christ, who died in our place, and was bodily raised from the dead for our justification. We believe that the new birth of the believer is an act of God the Spirit, and comes only through individual faith in the person (He is God) and work (He paid the necessary price for sin) of Jesus Christ — Faith alone in Christ alone saves a person from his sin, and never happens as a result of any kind of good works or deeds.

THE HOLY SPIRIT

We believe that the Holy Spirit is God, i.e. the 3rd person of the triune God, and though omnipresent from all eternity, He indwells every born again believer, and has since the Day of Pentecost. His baptism of the believer places that person into the Body of Christ (the Church), and unites every Christian into one universal church body. He is the source of power in the Christians life, though not every Christian accesses that power. He is also the giver of spiritual gifts to every Believer.

THE CHURCH

We believe that the church IS NOT a building but the church is people, “called out ones”, who through faith in Jesus Christ make up His body. We believe that God has ordained the church to be the primary source for ministry outreach and the spread of the Gospel (though we understand that other missions organizations and para-church ministries are also a source of ministry outreach and spread of the Gospel). We also believe that it is the responsibility of every born again believer to seek out a local fellowship to be part of where his/her gifts and abilities may be useful to the furtherance of the Gospel. We believe in the literal, physical resurrection of the body and eternal life for the saved as well as eternal punishment for the lost. What we mean by eternal life is that every Believer in Jesus Christ becomes part of the Church and is in relationship with God through Christ and that relationship is eternal and can never end. We believe that the supreme mission of the church in this age is to bring glory to God which happens as His people learn to live out the principles of Scripture on a day to day basis and reach out to the lost, making disciples of those who place their faith in Jesus Christ. In this we “are conformed daily into the image of God’s Son” as all Believers should desire to do.

FUTURE THINGS

We believe in a dispensational approach to interpreting the Scriptures. That is, we believe that God is the same God throughout history. He never changes in Who He is but He is working with man differently from age to age because man is changing (rebelling and resisting God). We believe Israel and the Church are distinct. We believe in the pre-tribulational rapture of the church, the 7 year tribulation on the earth and the 2nd coming of Christ at the end of the tribulation period. We also believe there will be a literal 1000 year kingdom set up by Christ on the earth which will follow the tribulation, after which Christ will escort us into eternity where we will worship Father, Son and Holy Spirit forever, and ever, and ever.
